The Local pacific beach

The Local brand was born over a decade ago with the opening of The Local in downtown San Diego. With a limited budget, owner Mina Desiderio printed some “Drink Local” t-shirts to spread the word … and spread it did. With a passion for great food, a commitment to the growing local craft beer movement and a dedicated family of staff members, Mina partnered with Brendan Huffman to make The Local’s dream of moving to the beach community come to fruition. Firehouse American Eatery & Lounge

There’s Nascar American & there’s American Chic, although we occasionally drink like the former, we design like the latter. For many years the original Firehouse stood on this spot & became a local legend. After some time passed, a couple of name & ownership changes, the restaurant/bar fell into disrepair left sad, broken-down & unloved, the two current owners, both San Diego residents purchased what was left of the business with pretty much all they had. Realizing Pacific Beach was growing up, their vision was to create a Retro-American-Chic version of the original to bridge the gap between the swanky Miami-style lounges & the warm cozy vibe of Pacific Beach. The Green Flash

Originally established in 1965 as Armando's Snack Bar Café, the restaurant was renamed "The Green Flash" in 1990 by the Gemora family. The atmosphere transforms from California casual to West Coast hip as the day advances.
