Coronado Brewing Company

In 1996, brothers Ron and Rick Chapman realized a long-time dream and got ahead of the craft brew curve in a big way, opening a brewpub in the heart of their hometown of Coronado. Back then, craft beer was still a foreign term and San Diego County was home to a mere handful of breweries, most of which were struggling to find their identity. The Chapmans had no question about who they wanted to be. Their clear-cut mission was to celebrate their islander roots through the creation of exceptional beer. And with those noble ideals, Coronado Brewing Company was born. Visit the Coronado Brewing Company Website      Location

Ballast Point Brewing

The perfect balance of taste and aroma. An obsession with ingredients. An exploration of techniques. And while we savor the result, we’re just as fascinated by the process to get there. What started as a small group of home brewers, who simply wanted to make a better beer, evolved into the adventurers known today as Ballast Point. We live to add our own touch and ask if there’s a better way. As we tinkered, tested and tasted, we discovered that making beer was more art than science. And while we respect and honor tradition, we relish the opportunity to take it further. That freedom has allowed us to reinterpret brewing. And along the way help to reinvogorate the industry. From bringing a hoppy twist to a porter, or developing a proprietary yeast for our amber ale, to creating a breakthrough gold medal-winning IPA. Visit the Ballast Point Brewing Website     Location

Karl Strauss Brewing Company

Karl began his career at Pabst Brewing Company on the bottling line in May, 1939. But with his strong work ethic and educational background, he quickly worked his way up the brewing ranks. In the 1950s, he was part of the team that reformulated the recipe for Pabst’s Blue Ribbon beer. The improved version catapulted sales for the company, and PBR remains an American brewing icon to this day. In 1960, Karl became Vice President of Production, overseeing all brewing operations across the country. He held the position until he retired in 1983, after 44 years with the company. Visit the Karl Strauss Brewing Company Website     Location

Pizza Port

The newest member of the Pizza Port family opened in May of 2010 at the corners of Bacon and Santa Monica streets in San Diego’s Ocean Beach (or “OB” as locals call it) community. Just a block from the beach and the pier, Pizza Port OB is also minutes from downtown, Balboa Park, Sea World and Mission Bay, making it a great place to stop off for great beer and food before, during and after your day’s activities. Local’s Tip: A bike and pedestrian-friendly beach community, OB is a great place for people watching. Grab a pint under a palapa on the patio, relax and enjoy the sights! Visit the Pizza Port Ocean Beach Website

Societe

The idea to start Societe came about in October 2010 when Douglas and Travis decided to leave their brewing jobs to create a brewery of their own. The two brewers plan to produce 3 lines of beer:  A San Diego-style line consisting of IPA's and stouts, a line of Old World Belgian ales brewed with New World techniques and a line of sour beers coming from their spacious barrel room.
The pair decided to focus on making the tasting room experience an enjoyable and memorable one. They put a lot of effort and thought into designing the tasting room to help enhance the experience of visiting a brewery. Visit the Societe Website     Location
