Corvette Diner

Black and white checkered floor, chrome accented counters and real soda fountains fill the two-tiered dining room, with a shiny, vintage corvette on display in the center. Waitresses don huge wigs and display impressive pin collections on their aprons, and their colorful personalities are exaggerated during impromptu song-and-dance routines whenever Rock Around The Clock cranks on the juke box. In classic 1950s diner style, every burger is named for a pretty lady and the milkshake section is the longest on the menu. Chicken fingers and mac 'n cheese please the kiddos, which make up the bulk of the clientele, and parents will delight in a decent salad selection. After dessert, watch out for flying Bazooka bubble gum at your table as the check arrives. Visit the Corvette Diner Website     Location

Museum of Making Music

Founded in 1998 by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), the Museum of Making Music was developed to showcase and celebrate the music products industry.  Soon thereafter, in March 2000, the Museum was opened to the public.  For over ten years, the Museum has provided opportunities for cultural enrichment while preserving our musical heritage through special exhibitions, innovative concerts and educational programs aimed toward a wide range of audiences.  On permanent display are hundreds of vintage instruments, audio and video clips, and a vibrant interactive area.  Organized chronologically, each gallery features the historic milestones, popular music and instruments of those eras.  A snapshot of music business practices and nostalgic re-creations of music stores provide a glimpse into the music products industry. Visit the Museum of Making Music Website     Location

Carlsbad Strawberry Company

Our strawberries have been growing at the Cannon Road location in Carlsbad for over 40 years. The field is approximately 80 acres in size and borders the Batiquitos Lagoon to the east and Interstate 5 to the west. Our temperate climate in Carlsbad and the proximity to the Pacific Ocean makes for ideal strawberry growing conditions. The cool marine layer allows us to harvest our berries into the summer, sometimes until the end of July. Although strawberries are usually considered seasonal, it is a year-round business for Carlsbad Strawberry Company, employing at least 150 people. The harvest usually takes place between January and July. Visit the Carlsbad Strawberry Company Website     Location
